Penn Highlands Mon Valley Reports Another Successful Breast Cancer Walk
More than 75 people laced up their athletic shoes on October 12, 2024 to participate in the 21st Annual Lois Orange Ducoeur Breast Cancer Walk. The fun event, which was held at the Mon Valley HealthPlex, raised $10,159 from participants, online donations, sponsors and raffles. The funds will be used for the early detection and treatment of breast cancer.
Prior to the Walk, Natalie Furgiuele, MD, FACS, a board-certified surgeon and Director of the Penn Highlands Mon Valley Breast Program, discussed the importance of annual mammograms. Debra Burkhardt, R.T.(R)(T)(CT)(ARRT), Director of Radiation Oncology at Penn Highlands Mon Valley, detailed what women can expect on their journey with breast cancer.
