Auxiliaries
Auxiliary groups work to raise money and support the hospital through large-scale projects. If you have a sincere desire to support the hospital, then an auxiliary membership may be right for you. Auxiliary members can be as active as they wish.

If you want to make a difference in the lives of your neighbors, we have a place for you in the Penn Highlands Mon Valley Auxiliary.
The Auxiliary has its roots in two strong hospitals whose histories span more than 100 years. Monongahela Valley Hospital's Auxiliary was formed in 1978 by the merger of Monongahela Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, which was formed in 1902, with Charleroi-Monessen Hospital Auxiliary, which was organized in 1909. The two auxiliaries merged when the two hospitals joined together to form Monongahela Valley Hospital.
This volunteer group has always been a frontrunner for defining the term "working Auxiliary."
Our Auxiliary members give of their time to work shoulder-to-shoulder with hospital employees to make Penn Highlands Mon Valley a great place to give and receive medical care.
Members provide support services and amenities to the hospital’s patients, visitors and as well as community residents. These services (volunteer opportunities) include:
- Reception Desks
- Child Registry Program
- Same Day Surgery Callback Service
- Favors and Crafts
- Special Event Assistance
- Festivals
Patron members are people who want to help the hospital but just do not have the time or they may have physical limitations. These members donate annual dues to provide financial assistance to the Auxiliary and are invited to attend the group’s many special events.

Penn Highlands Tyrone Auxiliary
The Penn Highlands Tyrone Auxiliary was established in 1947. The organization consists of community volunteers who conduct a variety of activities to support Tyrone Hospital.
In its early years, it raised funds that supported the actual creation and construction of PH Tyrone hospital. Over the years the Auxiliary has supported many hospital projects and purchased a variety of medical and other equipment for the hospital. One of the major projects supported by the Auxiliary is providing financial support for the operation of the Care Car. The Care Car provides Tyrone-area residents with free transportation to PH Tyrone hospital and to doctor’s offices in Tyrone that are affiliated with Tyrone Hospital to support access to healthcare services.
The Auxiliary conducts fundraisers during several months of the year including craft, bake and soup sales and uniform sales. Auxiliary members adorn the hospital each year during the Christmas holiday season, providing a decorated Christmas tree for the hospital’s main lobby and wreaths for the exterior of the hospital. They also hold an annual holiday tea providing complimentary refreshments for hospital staff and visitors.
