Penn Highlands Mon Valley Celebrates 38th Annual Light-up Night

On Monday, November 25, 2024, during the 38th Annual Light-up Night at Penn Highlands Mon Valley, families waited in anticipation for the holiday lights to shine brightly kicking off the festive season.

The granddaughters of two Penn Highlands Mon Valley employees won the honor in a random drawing to pull the switch. Seven-year-old Sadie Scrip, the granddaughter of Darlene Lenhart, a unit clerk in the Same Day Surgery Department, and 10-year-old Lexie Snyder, the granddaughter of Janet Rippel, a miscellaneous clerk, were excited to be part of the community celebration.

“It is very uplifting to see the community come together on our hospital campus to celebrate the start of the holiday season,” said Peter J. Adamo, Southwest Region Market President, Penn Highlands Healthcare.

“It is a time for Penn Highlands Mon Valley employees, physicians and volunteers to welcome our patients, friends, family and neighbors to enjoy an entertaining evening."

Among the special guests were two visitors direct from the North Pole – Santa and Mrs. Claus. They stayed until every child had a chance to talk with them about the items on their wish lists. Children in attendance received lighted candy canes courtesy of Joseph's Nursery and Garden Center in Monessen who also arranged all of the spectacular interior and exterior decorations. Everyone was treated to complimentary cookies and hot cocoa. In addition, throughout the evening, members of the Penn Highlands Mon Valley Auxiliary sold handmade crafts and homemade baked goods.
