MVH Announces 2021 Protin Award Recipient
It's been a year like none we have ever experienced. While every sector suffered the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, no other industry felt the effects more than health care. At Monongahela Valley Hospital, the proactive approach from the outbreak of cases to the vaccine distribution was led by Senior Vice President Donna L. Ramusivich. For her untiring dedication to ensuring the health and safety of patients, physicians, employees and visitors, Mrs. Ramusivich is the recipient of the 2021 Edward J. Protin Memorial Award. Christopher Coccari, BSN, RN, director of Perioperative Services and the 2019 recipient, made the award presentation.
Mrs. Ramusivich joined the staff of MVH in 1984 and soon became a leader's leader who is committed to delivering the highest level of care in a safe environment. She displays unquestionable integrity and inspires her co-workers. Her staff has said that she "portrays the characteristics of an exceptional leader, but more importantly the characteristics of an exceptional person. She has a calm confidence and a heart for people." Her community involvement, along with her helping nature exemplifies the qualities of the Protin Award.
In addition to serving as the sponsor of MVH's Journey to Excellence Safety Team, Mrs. Ramusivich is active in civic and service organizations that improve the quality of life for residents of the mid-Monongahela Valley community. She is President of the Board of Directors of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Area Agency on Aging and serves on the boards of the Mon Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Southwest Corner Workforce Development Board. Mrs. Ramusivich also is a member and past president of the Charleroi Rotary and on Washington County's Athena Award® Committee.
The Edward J. Protin Memorial Award is given to an employee who has 10 or more years of service to Mon-Vale Health Resources, Inc., exhibits significant contributions to the health system over and above what is required and demonstrates qualities of leadership, loyalty, compassion and empathy.
