Penn Highlands Healthcare All Stars Celebrate Achievements

The Convocation Center at PennWest California was filled with “stars” when Penn Highlands Healthcare hosted an “All-Star Evening” on September 21, 2024. More than 150 people gathered to celebrate the stellar employees, physicians, volunteers, retirees, board members from Penn Highlands Connellsville and Penn Highlands Mon Valley as well as their community partners who make a difference in the life of the residents in the region.

“We are pleased to honor these individuals and businesses who show their dedication to our patients and communities every day,” said Peter J. Adamo, Southwest Regional President of Penn Highlands Healthcare in his remarks. “They are truly shining stars and we are extremely grateful for their commitment.”

Honorees included:

  • Boosters of the Year: CNX Foundation and Scott Electric
  • Staff Most Valuable Players: Karen Pritts, MS, RDN, CDCES, LDN, Director of Clinical Nutrition and Diabetes, Penn Highlands Connellsville and Penn Highlands Mon Valley; and Robert Thompson, Director of Facilities, Penn Highlands Connellsville
  • Rookies of the Year: Hannah Shirley, CRNP, Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner, Penn Highlands Mon Valley; and Michael Watson, Emergency Department Manager, Penn Highlands Connellsville
  • Physician Most Valuable Players: Walter Cox, MD, Gynecology, Penn Highlands Mon Valley; and Richard Tiberio MD, Internal Medicine, Penn Highlands Connellsville
  • Volunteers of the Year: Arlene Haney (Posthumously) Former President, Penn Highlands Mon Valley Auxiliary; Elaine Gunderson, President, The Hospital Club, Penn Highlands Connellsville; and Virginia McDowell, President, The Ladies Auxiliary of Penn Highlands Connellsville
  • Hall of Fame: All of the physicians, staff, board members, retirees and volunteers at Penn Highlands Mon Valley and Penn Highlands Connellsville

Each awardee was presented with two special items — a traditional award and framed “All-Star” artwork created by the students who attend the Penn Highlands Connellsville Regional Center for Autism. The Center provides families and children in Southwestern Pennsylvania with advanced education and behavioral treatment. During the evening, Rachael Conner, Director of the Center, also received an award for her dedication to the students.
